PRINCE2: 2009 Project update

Examination format

The examination format of the foundation and practitioner examinations will largely remain the same in terms of content, though there are some small changes which have been proposed regarding timing and marking of the examinations as follows:-

o        Foundation Examination

§    Multiple choice examination

§    80 questions per paper (though as part of the continuous development of our  question banks 4 anonymous questions will be trial questions for feedback and not marked so 76 marks will be available per exam)

§    38 marks or above required to pass

§    One hour allowed

§      Some negative style questions will be allowed in the examinations although negative marking will not be introduced

§    Answer sheets will change to the same format as the practitioner ones so they can be scanned when received by APMG and feedback sent to ATOs to detail the candidate marks and a breakdown by syllabus areas

o        Practitioner Examination

§     No change to presentation – there will still be 3 booklets for candidates to use containing the scenario and additional information, questions and answer sheets as per the current system

§     Objective testing examination

§     Nine questions per paper with 12 marks available per question – all question items will be worth 1 mark making the total number of marks available per paper 108

§     2.5 hours allowed (no reading time has been added)

§     Open book exam (manual only – same rules will apply as for current exams)

§      Pass mark to be determined
